RE: QWAGON BOUGHT
Congratulations! Welcome to The Club :-)
I wouldn't worry about the belts unless they look frayed. Change the
timing belt at 60K, though.
New plugs are expensive so shop around, but don't compromise - they
really run best on the expensive plugs.
Mobil 1 or Amsoil is what I use - nothing else in a turbo engine for me
(don't anybody bother to pick this one up - I'm tired of this subject).
Redline works very well in the transmission for me.
Chip away! The car can easily handle more power, although the suspension
could do with a little help. I'm currently thinking about Eibach springs
to supplement the Boge TurboGas dampers and about adding Eric's subframe
bushings. Eric's suspension mods get high marks all around, but I want
to keep my Boges to keep cost reasonable. Ned's chip is more expensive
than Hoppen's, but I haven't looked into why that is. Ned also promises
~275hp, whereas Hoppen "only" promises ~260.
About the brakes: I like the UFOs. My new Hawk Blue (mostly track use)
pads are on the way from Carbotech to me even as I'm writing this and
I'll have them make up a set of Kelated Metallic pads for every day use.
There are no pre-fab aftermarket pads for the UFO brakes that I know of,
so true custom is the only way I've found to get better pads. Not too
much more expensive than the stock pads and much better compounds are
available that way.
Have fun with your new toy (can a wagon be a toy? A resounding YES! from
me on that one :-).
