CQ vs. S4 -Reply

Mark, last year in an issue of 'European Car' there was an article about an '87
5kTQ that had been built for serious performance. The owner, lives in Boulder
CO, I think, had a max of 26lb of boost available but usually ran about 22lb
where it produces some 350 hp! This was not just with a modified computer but
larger turbo, intercooler, 3in exhaust system and such. Anyway, to your
question, the guy had also owned an S4 and said that his '87 handled better.
The suspension was not stock but had the usual spring, strut, bar mods. Also
had larger drilled rotors all around and a cockpit adjustable front/rear bias.
As I recall the majority of the parts came from Audi Sport and ABT, particularly
the aerodynamic body parts. I'll look up the article. The interesting thing to
me was that there was nothing particularly exotic or radical about the mods to
this car, just solid engineering and the liberal application of cubic dollars.

Anyone know how to get in touch with Audi Sport? Building a car for Pro Rally
sounds like a really interesting thing to do. I have an acquaintance who was
Michelle Muton's navigator in the early '80s. Mark, where do you live?
