Re: Ultimate Parking Story

George--

You might be interested--or perhaps horrified--to know that the practice
you observed is quite common in Europe, and particularly Germany, the
original home of our iron buddies.

The streets are so narrow, and land in cities too precious for off-street
parking. So it is common for cars to park jammed right up next to each
other to save space. In fact, I remember some German friends warning me
that in their town it is <illegal> to park on level ground with the car in
gear or the parking brake on, as it would inhibit someone from gently
nudging cars front and back to get out of a "zero slack" parking space!

May be why our Audis still come with 5 mph bumpers! Cheers--
