These cars tend to sell for low $$ because they are expensive
and/or time consuming to maintain. "Meticulously maintained"
could be interpreted as _intensively_ maintained. It is a rather
complex piece of machinery which, owing to it's excellent
performance, invites you to further run up maintenance costs
by thrashing it. For you to be able to enjoy the truly glorious
qualities of the car, you must be willing to assume this burden
and to be philosophical when it leaves you on the side of the road.
Depending on the depth of your pockets, the $3K you mention
might well be held in reserve until you find out what's up and
what's not.
Safety tip: don't purchase this car as your wife's car.
