Re: Sparkey

In a message dated 97-02-20 23:49:20 EST, you write:

<< Checked the timing marks on crank pulley and cam gear - they line up
correctly, and the distributor rotor is pointed at #1 plug wire when
both timing marks are lined up.

So I pulled the #1 spark plug wire loose at the distributor cap and
watched as my wife cranked: NO spark.

While I was working on the car, I did pop the distributor cap loose,
and pulled the #1 plug wire out of the cap (to mark its position) and
pulled the coil wire out, at the coil.

Is there something I don't know about those wires? With no spark,
I'm wondering if I did something to the coil wire.

Wooops, sent a private post then reread yours... Remember Al, the tdc at the
crank pulley is for factory install reference only.... Make sure you split
the "0" at the window to the flywheel (just above timing reference senders
drivers side bellhousing), the dot/slash on the back of cam pulley to top of
cam cover, dist slashes line up internal to housing... The crank pulley is
not a good tdc reference, do not use it...

Still, slowly turning the dist will get the thing to start... Redo tdc:
Cam, dist and <0> on flywheel, forget the pulley. Car should start....
