86 Coupe Computer Glitches

No doubt several of you have read my posts as I bumble towards a solution with the
Coupe's unusually low temperature readings and awful mileage, even after new
thermostat (radiator) and running with the cold start valve disconnected.

Well if you responded to me that I was insane to believe the trip comuputer's
readings, seems you're warm (about the computer that is, I don't think I'm crazy yet).

Today, I was driving next to a buddy and asked him what his speedo read--he shouted
"55!" Mine was 55 as well. But when he was at 61, I was at 68! I pulled up next to
a big new Caprice with a digital dash--his said 72, mine 77. Obviously. this "does
not compute captain."

Odometer seems to be reading OK. (Don't know the exact distance from point A to B from
today's trip).

Well, does anyone feel up to a short course on these damned computers? I understand
they are adjustable to 5-10 MPH over/under. But if that ain't going to fix the
several problems that seem to be stemming from it, what is the cost of a new (or just
working) unit? Are they hard to find?

(I have a feeling I'm not going to like the answers).

Anyway, now that I'm all plated, insured, and DMV-legal again and can drive freely, I
can say that besides not knowing how fast I am going, the car drives like a dream.
Absolutely solid and quick. Great, great handling, solid rear axle be damned!
