I'm going to sort through this here and please tell me if I've got the
symptoms correct?

-If you push the lever down (single wipe) the wipers go up but not down
-If you push the lever to intermittant the wipers go up but not down
(sometimes or always? I'll feel much better about my answer if they go
up once and never come back down until you do funny things to it)
-if you pull the lever towards you for the washer nothing happens
(nothing? does it squirt but no arm movement? Or do the arms move but
no fluid comes out? Neither?)

My first guess would be a faulty relay. The fact that the wipers move
at all seems to rule out the motor; maybe not entirely but the fact that
they move one direction makes me awefully suspicious.

Also, it's much easier to replace the relay than to try to get at that
nasty little switch...
