Re: Another CB victory
I agree with Dan; if you want long-range, the big whip is the
way to go. For a moderately/heavily traveled interstate, the
cellular look-alikes have worked fine for me - just get them
from a manufacturer who knows CB (one reason I mentioned
Antenna Specialists).
Checked my files; this is what I installed on the Porsche
(Audi also uses this antenna)
Antennae - Antenna Specialists model M-906.
CB Radio - Midland 77-225A
One use of big truck stops is to look for CB equipment.

My .02 on CBs...
I use the Uniden Pro 510xl, avail at Walmart for about $40,
and add a K40 antenna (about $40 as well). The K40 is a big
antenna but gives you great range, and the whip comes off with
a twist of the wrist for going into parking garages or hanging out
in trailer parks (about the only place the antenna would get
stolen...)
I'd be very surprised if you folks with the stealth antennas/
cell-look alikes are getting any sort of range.
I have a Radio Shack cell look a like and it is crap.
For sale, BTW :)
