Simple question: what is the low beam headlight display and why defeat
it? I don't drive a V8 and as far as I know don't have that display on
my CGT, but I am just plain curious.

Simple, Allan.

The dreaded headlamp warning bulb should only be defeated when upgrading to
higher wattage bulbs. When you do this, it is recommended that you install a
relay system and then only use one side (usually the right side) stock
harness to trip the relays for the higher wattage bulbs, so as not to melt
your combo switch . This "tells" the bulb warning monitor chip that one of
the headlights is out, sending out the signal for bulb warning. Hence the
headlight bulb warning defeat solution.
