... the difference is that the "infrastructure" is not in place.  All the
truckers are on CB, and that is where you're going to get the "smokey" 
info.  The Ham x-ceivers would be good for those getting together for an
Audi meeting [e.g.], but for the purpose of situational awareness I'd 
think that CB is the way to go.

P.S. - I forgot my ObQC in my last message ... One thing that we had to 
watch during our driver's improvement punish^H^H^H^H^H^Htraining was a
program broadcast on network TV some years back called "The Ultimate 
Driver's Challenge."  I noticed in one of the last segments they were 
filming an intersection in snowy Boston.  Sitting parked at a corner 
near the intersection was a nice 5kCSQ Avant.  We also got to see a 
photo-radar report for a speeder in Campbell, CA ... the photo was such 
that it was not possible to ID the driver or the license, but the car 
was an older Audi 5k. SLB
