In '91 I was stopped for going WAY, WAY over the speed limit.

This was in Los Alamos, NM, where I was working at the National Laboratory.
For those of you unfamiliar with the DOE Labs, the nature
of the work is kinda 'hush-hush' and involves plutonium, et al. Not that
my work did -- I was then doing software engineering. Anyways, it was ~3
a.m. and I was called in to look at a system problem (batch job gone
awry). I knew exactly what the problem was (those machines deemed
'sensitive' couldn't be accessed from home), so I just threw on P.J.'s,
slippers and a bath robe (yeah, I know -- but at 3 a.m. who cares?), and
headed up the hill towards the computing facilities. Thing is, I forgot
my wallet.
When I explain to the officer that I was in a hurry to deal with a problem
at work, and had (obviously) dressed hurriedly, he says "'You work at the
Lab?". "Yes, sir". "Well, then just go...".
Now, the look on his face suggests he's thinking reactor melt-down or
something. Naturally I let him think that ;-)
I've often pictured this guy calling his wife and kids at home -- "Honey,
pack some food and clothes, I'm coming right home!".
