car. You have $1,000 LEFT. What do you do-- as far as PREVENTATIVE
maintenance? I WANT TO "DRIVE IT FOREVER."
Hmmm, that's a good one.
1. replace all fluids and filters?
1.5 replace all belts and hoses (use new s/s hose clamps, the OEM aren't
great)
2. disconnect, clean and waterproof all electrical connections?
3. replace any under gauged wires with new heavier same color wires? (amend
your manual's diagram)
4. make sure your insurance policy is adequate, establish a true replacement
value for your car - even involving an independent appraiser?
5. start replacing all hardware in sight with stainless steel?
6. put some of the $1000 in the bank and grow it so the next repair can be
done right as well.
6.5 keep an eye out for a good cheap parts car, if you've got space it's a
wonderful asset.
7. stay on good terms with your dad, try to learn how he fixes things so you
can carry on....
