RE: cams

sort of gains are expected from the turbo cam?
I have followed this cam substitution story with some interest. A few
months ago Steadiric mentioned this upgrade to me, and I am the proud owner
of a motor in an 81 5kt. So I have the cam already. Questions....
1. Will it permanently ruin my car's fuel economy, or only when I use the
loud pedal? I'd hate to turn the coupe into a gas guzzler (got an F250 for
that), but a few more HP would be nice when needed.
PS I already have the 85 4kq exhaust manifold and downpipe, and as soon as
it's warm that airbox is going to get a close look at some power tools...
2. Will the cam just provide more top end, will it steal from the low end
(torque), will it kabootz my idle, has anybody been here and done this and
know?
3. What other parts will I need to replace to change cams? Just the cam
oil seal and maybe camshaft cover gasket (I hope)? What should I do to the
cam while it's out, in terms of testing or machine work (nothing I hope!)?
4. More in general about cams - are those Schrick numbers a degree
measurement? Degrees of what? Where does the i5 turbo cam fit into the
picture relative to them?
thanks all for any input.
