Whips and Chains (and Belts)

The bevel gear drive, as used in mechanical watches and some Ducati
motorcycles seems like a durable solution.  However, I would be happy if
companies just made it easier to change the rubber cam belts.  

You need two wives to break the crankshaft nut.  One to stand on the brakes
and the other to stand on the breaker bar!  They need to design a car so
you don't have to skin your knuckles and dismantle half the car just to
change a friggin' belt.
