Re: 2.3 motor in 4000Q....
In a note dated 3/5/97 you write:
<<The easy way to tell without opening the hood is to look at the side
mirrors. If they are body colored, it's a 2.3, if they are black, then it's
the common 2.2. This rule applies to Coupes and to 4000Q's>>
Nope! The 1987 commerative build 4kcsq did not have the 2.3, but did have
body colored wheels, mirrors, and bumpers, along with scripted (with
"quattro" all over 'em) seats and door panels, and "sports" supension...I
know because an Alpine White one was my first q and I bought it new. When I
bought it the model year was over (it was actualy an untitled "demo" but I
call that new...) and the salesman (who I knew) told me of 2.3 Coupe GT's
(which I thought were sold as '88's but didn't pay much attention...I do know
they were a hard sell and sat on dealer lots though for a long time-at least
around here) and that the very last 4kq's also had the 2.3...I have never
seen one though (another lister posted that he has...). But, no-this is not
the way to tell (unless I had the 2.3 and didn't know it??? No, I'm sure).
