US Audis - timing of safety features

I don't have the whole picture but anecdotally I can tell you that my 87 
5000CSTQW has ABS. I think my 95 5000T did too but I'm not certain.

Drivers airbags appeared in the middle of the 89-91 100 series run. I 
think it started with the more premium models in 90. My 91 100Q had an 
airbag.

Far more significant IMHO are the safety belt pretensioners which 
appeared on the 100 series with the introduction of the 89's. I would far 
rather have the pretensioners than an airbag.  BTW the 91 100 set the 
standard for crash test results that I don't think has been surpassed to 
date.
