Avi,
For my two pence worth......I've just replaced the lifters on my 80
Sport.
The rattle was most definitly intermittent. With engine at normal
operating temp. the rattle would come in for maybe 5-10 seconds then
disappear completly for a minute or two then start again. This is when
driving along at any speed. At idle in traffic it was the same.....used
to confuse the hell out of other drivers along side me, frantically
looking around at other cars to see where the rattle was coming from,
but before they would cop it, the noise stopped!
