Re: Cooling fan problem
This is important...the feature which you speak off is called the after run
feature......this feature helps to cool the engine/turbo after running. Your
other concern should be to test the water injection bottle or aux. water pump
located on top of the ABS braking unit.
This aux. water pump also should run just like your fan used to. Does it
still work or has it ceased to operate as well ?
If the aux. water pump is not working either... then the problem is probably
in the a sender. The sender which controls this after run feature is
located where the upper radiator return hose connects to the engine block.
There are usually 3 switches or sending units in this area....the one facing
towards the rear of the car is the one which controls the after run
feature......to test the feature ......well with the ignition switch off pull
the two wire off the sending unit I just described and touch the wires
together....if the fan and aux. pump start working then they both are fine
and your sender / switch is bad.....if the aux. pump start buzzing but the
fan does not turn then we need to look towards the fan wiring....let me know
if this helps.....make sure to fix the problem.....proper turbo cooling is
must for high mileage turbo engines......
