Two pieces of misinformation here.

First, it's not a remote mounting kit, AFAIK.  They sell a remote
display kit, to keep the lights on your V-1 from going on.  But
not a remote mounting kit.

Second, it wasn't Valentine Research that you read about, it
was Cincinnati Microwave, and their demise had nothing to do
with waning radar detector sales, and everything to do with their
ill-planned entry into other consumer lines.
