Yes, you have a knock sensor, and yes they do go bad...they'll flip on the
'check engine' light if they go to full retard, however. It's located on
the driver's side of the engine block, down below the #2 (approx) spark
plug, right near the two oil pressure sensors...it's round, a little bigger
than a quarter, but about 1/2 inch thick, bolted to the block. If you think
it is bad, try swapping with the other car and see if it makes a
difference...if you do, be careful torquing that bolt on...it's very
sensitive to being right (I think it requires only 15 foot pounds).....SLM
