91 200q for sale
Hi folks,
I just got back from the local Audi dealer to get some parts. Well, I missed
out on the parts 'cause they closed early, but did spot a 1991 200q with 68,000
miles on it. The car is silver/grey and has the barcaloungers. The dealer
wouldn't let me test-drive it because it hadn't been prepped yet (or so he
claimed). However, he started it up for me and I sat in it.
The interior looked *very* clean. It was equiped with a sony cd-changer
system. He started it up.. the battery sounded a big sluggish, but the car
purred like a kitten. The exterior has a few blemishes, most obvious was the
discoloration underneath where the original owner had mounted the roof rack.
I performed the brake-pedal bomb test (just because mine is shot) and this one
stayed nice and soft for many pedal pumps.
I also pressed down on the front and rear ends of the car to feel how firm
the suspension was. It was still nice and solid feeling (as compared to my shot
suspension).
The original owner purchased the car from Langan and traded it in yesterday
on a new A8 (which he is fitting with a roof-rack, ugh). Oh.. I pulled the
dipstick and the oil didn't come back looking so healthy. While my oil is
usually light and golden colored (even at 3K miles), this oil was dark and
thick. However, it was a balmy 35 degrees outside.
What else? Oh yeah.. asking price? $14,900.. fairly firm. I didn't grab the
dealer's phone number or anything, but if anybody is interested I can dig it
up. Also, if anybody is interested in the car I would be willing to go and
check it out a little further for them. The Usual disclaimers.
Take care!

P.S. If I had driven the car I'd have a lot more to report. Also, I have no
knowledge about this particular dealer's reputation.
