2.8 V6 mods-long

I was reading a post here about someone wanting to modify their A4 2.8
for better performance. I've given this a fair amount of thought
myself, even though I don't have an A4...
I do have a 93 90CS, which has basically the same 2.8l V6. Here are my
thoughts on some of his ideas, as well as some of my own.

Scaumberg Throttle Body: I think that this is definitely a good idea,
and I plan to try this sometime.

K&N: I've been having some second thoughts about this lately. I had
origionally planned to buy a K&N for my car, but I've been hearing a lot
lately about ill-fitting aftermarket filters, and am wondering whether
or not this is a good idea. I also wonder if I would always take the
time to properly clean and oil this filter--or is this not one that gets
oiled? Some help here would be appreciated. The filter I had in mind
here was one that replaces the filter box entirely--a cone filter?

TAP chip: I've also been having some second thoughts on this. A month
or so ago I read some interesting posts about safety-related issues
regarding to TAP chips? Does Ned at IA make chips for non-turbo cars?
If so, is it worth the extra money? People's experiences would help a
lot.

Exhaust: Since my car is not a turbo, I think that the current (stock)
exhaust system works just fine. I don't know how a throttle body mod
would change this, but I can't imagine that it would be drastic enough
to warrant a higher-flowing exhaust system. Also, I like how quiet the
stock system is.

Supercharger: Whoa, you're talking big bucks here, as well as a huge
time commitment (well, if I installed it myself). Aside from that,
where exactly would it go? Maybe over the A/C compressor?

Suspension: I would probably leave the suspension stock, at least for a
while. I don't find that there's enough body roll to find
objectionable, especially with my current driving skill--I don't need
more excuses to go that much faster; I find enough as it is.
I would, however, like to get some of those amazing 5-spoke wheels that
are on the 1.8T, as well as some nicer tires (still have stock Goodyear
Eagle GA's front and back.)

I mentioned this earlier, but didn't get enough info to decide on this.
I had been tossing around the idea of replacing the 12v head on my V6
with the 30v head when they become available in the US. What I don't
know is if there are any significant differences between the two engines
ie bore/stroke, bolt placement, etc. Can anyone tell me where to get
this info?

Well, there it is. Does anyone have any other suggestions here, or
personal experiences/advice to add?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Please CC:epotter@abraxis.com if you reply to this, since I'm (once
again) running a little behind on the digest here.

TIA!
