Sticking, clicking valve lifters

When I bought my 5000cstq my prebuy check mechanic told me that clicking 
valve lifters were 'normal' for audis.  Not to worry.  So I haven't but 
the recent thread has got me started.  Two questions:(1) how loud  before I 
start to worry; and (2) do I have solid or hydraulic lifters?
	Another recent post on getting the underside washed, someone, I 
think Phil, said that there is a negative pressure in crankcase and that 
this can pull in water instead of air.  Is this true of my model as well?
