Valve lifter problems

Hi all.

Please re-use of BW, but do I own the only Audi with non-hydraulic
lifters?

My mechanic (Paul Schenk of German Motorsports) recommended that the
valves in the 5ks be adjusted due to a slightly rough idle. Found out
when I bought the Bentley manual for the 4kcsq that the valves are
hydraulic and require no adjustment.  Does any one know if the hydraulic
valves are "plug and play" retrofittable to older I5 engines?

If not, what experiences good/bad that q-list members had when adjusting
their solid lifers?
