Re: 15" wheels for Coupe GT, not gaudy
On my 87 CGT (Alpine white with _white_ leather BTW) I have 15x7 TSW Evo's.
I am very happy with these and have gotten many favorable comments. I had
really wanted 5 spokers but the selection was limited and those that I did
like were too spendy for me at the time.
The Evo's come with a center treatment that leaves the center hole open,
uncovered. There is a black wafer that fits down inside to fill it but it
still looked unfinished to me. Instead I was able to get the full center cap
that they sell with the Hockenheim wheels. They were also able to get a
round Audi emblem to stick on over the TSW emblem. Looks great.
As for the gaudy comment:
Clarification: I was referring to the combination of Alpine white and red
leather, not the red leather itself. The red leather with graphite seems to
be a better combo to my eyes....
To be honest, the one I looked at many years ago was the first Coupe GT
I had ever looked at and yes, at first I thought it was a bit gaudy.
Actually my first comment after seeing the car with the combination of the
white/red and the digital dash was that it looked like a german Cadillac. In
my defense, though, I did go on to own 2 different 86 CE's with the red
leather interior, albeit with graphite exterior color. Which I absolutely
LOVED by the way and would still own if I wasn't able to sell each one for a
tidy little profit. However the consequences of having a black car caused me
to think longingly about that first white CE GT I had looked at and casually
passed on. Live and learn.
So now I have Alpine white with white leather interior, white mirrors, white
spoiler, white wheels (the stock rims anyway) and white side window frame
surrounds. What do you think of that combo? ;-P
C-ya!
