fuel pump buzz, 91q 200 20v wagon

hi
i'm sure this isn't unique to the  '91 q 200 20v wagon
there's a buzz from the fuel pump, that's located at the back
(this kind of thing is inaudible to some folks, & doesn't bother
others, and it varies in loudness)
it is really irritating at times, and even when i get used to it
it's something that could be a strain during long trips.
has anyone had this kind of difficulty,
or found anything that makes a difference = that can be done about it?
