Re: Tires - Yokohama or what
We recently bought our first Audi in Sep of 1996 , A4q 2.8 Automatic -
its the wifes car and she wanted a slushbox, what can i say :-(
Its not a performance car by any stretch of the imagination, other than
the fact that I do stick it around the corners. I found the Goodyear
RSA's complaining a bit but they don't seem too bad for an all weather
tire. However, I do have a set of Bridgestone SO2's on my Supra Turbo
5spd (an 88 I've had from new and it now has 350hp going to the (stock)
back wheels). Now THESE are a performance tire and have excellent dry
traction and are very very good in the wet. Wear characteristics are
also excellent. I read an article about the tire being tested on the
track and after a few hot laps they showed minimal wear and feathering
on the edges. I believe these may work out to be a good tire for the
"performance" people on the board. As you are aware they are the tire
of choice on the Porsche Turbo. My 225 50 16's were $1200 mounted by
Firestone. I am keeping the car looking stock so I can play mind games
with the local Corvette owners :-).
I just have to play the clutch a little more than usual to stop the
rear wheels breaking loose thats all.....
Love the Audi by the way, can't wait for the twin turbo V6 A6.......
