Once upon a time I owned a '79 Honda prelude with the registration "AUD
122V", while not as valuable as your example (the plate, not the heap it
was on)  I look back now and consider that if a suitable,black,retaining
bolt were appropriately positioned it could have read "AUDI 2.2V".Of course
this would make no sense on the Honda, which was fortunate as there was
insufficient sound metal on which to mount said retaining bolt.
Incidentally,I sold the thing (plates 'n' all) for  180 quid.A bargain.
