I just installed 15x7 wheels with a 40mm offset on a 87 4kq.  I run Goodyear GS-C tires in a 205/50-15 size.  I am just short of rubbing the fender (unrolled) on the outside and barely missing rubbing on the steering arm on the inside.  I can't imagine how anyone could fit anything bigger without serious body work and a greater offset.

So the answer to your question; with 15x7 wheels, 40mm offset is as far as you can go (IMHO)
