I have an 89 200Q & used to own an '88 5000CSTQ, so I'll try to give 
you some help...

I had to do mine (later style rack). About $280 from Blaufergnugen 
with lifetime warranty.

Late '89's have higher compression & dual knock sensors I think. List 
gurus will fill you in here...

It is a much more "refined" car than the 5K - quieter cabin & much 
nicer interior, better instrumentation (oil press guage) etc.

A lot of the essential mid-life work has been done on the car you're 
looking at. When I got mine it needed rack, bomb, 2 oil pressure 
sensors, thermostat, speedometer sensor, brake pads, some other bits 
& pieces. Other than that it's been solid as a rock.

for $5200, I'd snatch their hand off if I were you.
