Pretty harsh! I have heard several other listers comment on using quattros
for towing, and every quattro owners manual I have read (I have owned 5
quattros over the past 10 years and they all had manuals...) has referneces
to towing reccomendations re: capacity, hitch mounting etc. As a sailer I
have seen many "german driving machines" (i.e. 911's) tow small sailboats to
regattas and feel one couldn't do better than a tqwagon for such purposes if
one were so inclined. So, should I unbuskribe just 'cause I feel that towing
within manufacturer rated capacity with a quattro is valid???!!! Jeez, I
truly hope not!

The biggest issue with towing on the turbo cars is the ability of the oil
cooler to keep the turbo bearing cool enough to run in sustained boost
conditions. That is really your only issue, heat. The cooling capacity of
the radiator and oil cooler needs to be high, becuz chances are you will be
running the car in boost the majority of your trip with the trailer. No need
to unsubscribe, lots of listers have trailers.
