it was about $75 or so from Carsen (Lobro, not Audi) when I did this job
on my previous 4kq.

Once you get the axle nut off, it's fairly simple. Since it's held in
place with an internal spring circlip, a few well-placed hammer (3 lb.)
blows to the old CV joint will remove it. It simply pops off. The new
one will pop right back on with elbow grease - no hammer required.
