Why 2 oil filters on non Quattro 200 Turbo?

Say "boo!" and I'll fax you the ur-quattro wiring diagram.  It's different, 
BTW, for cars with a/c.
 
On the normal MB - whatever drives J155 and the thermoswitch - the result is 
that the pump runs and the radiator fan runs on the lowest setting.  This seems 
to be the _only_ way this setting is invoked - there's an extra resistor in the 
line before it connects to the built-in resistor contact on the fan motor.  The 
second and third stages of the fan are switched normally by the radiator's 
thermoswitches - second stage puts volts directly on the resistor terminal of 
the fan motor, and third puts the volts straight onto the motor.
 
All this also happens in an a/c car - but it looks like the a/c fan gets run as 
well.
