[stuff I agree with snipped]
A dim and distant alarm bell is ringing on the oil cooler lines. On
ur-quattros, they have different fittings in single and twin filter
applications.
At least, this is based on a sample of two - John Coughtrie's WR on
the stands in my garage, with both of us underneath it and me saying:
"Coo! It's different to my MB!"
As indeed it proved. Steve _might_ need to use an oil cooler off a
twin-filter car, or get lines fabricated by a competent hydraulic
hose shop - of which there seem to be many about. Find a large parking
lot full of earth-moving gear and ask sweetly.
