Bad attitude
Usually, when people have a beef with one another, I keep my nose
out of it. But, discretion aside, I have decided to take up a little
time here about something that has been burning my ass for quite some
time. First, a short history.
I came to this list later than many now on it. While here, I
have learned tons, and saved even more in dollars by the diagonsis of
problems by some really keen people here. I am new to the turbo motor
thing. If we wanted to talk about building stroker V8's--I could help,
turbo stuff--I am an idiot. But, when I started lurking, then posting,
seemed like everyone was getting along [more or less] with the every now
and again drumming of a spammer.
Recently though, the attitude in some has seemed to change.
Frankly, I know this to be happening for the worst of all reasons, for
profit. A number of people here have stuff to sell. Great, I'm all for
it. But, when someone with something to sell gets pissy with a
competitor--it should be in private.
I just read a post basically attacking Ned [for his computer
work] and Eric [STEADIRIC] for his suspension kit. Did anyone other than
me notice that Ned is not on the list? Why? Mainly because he is too
fu*king busy working on computers for our cars. Maybe that is only
ironic to me. This is how I view the computer mod / upgrade / downgrade
/ whatever: There are many "mods" that I hear about, but not many that
anyone is open about selling--with safety features intact. If you have a
computer mod GREAT! Tell us what problems have been associated with it
and you might sell 1000's of them. But get off Ned's ass, ok? I have
got his upgrade for my 89.5, pulls to 1.8 bar like a fuc*ing jet. Best
thing about it? NO detonation [on high compression motor], AND when the
temp sensor is bad or WOT is bad--it won't give you the high boost. I
love this mod. I don't care if he did nothing to the computer but
sprinkle magic dust on it---it works, and that is all I care about.
Now, I also have STEADIRIC's suspension on my car. It may be
tuned slightly different from some others, I don't know. But, again, I
hear talk of how it is a "collection of pieces" or how it sells at a
premium. All I know is it works. It has changed my wagon from a diving,
bumping thing to something that I can attach to the tail of anything on
the road and stay with--until the little Audi I5 whimpers out of power.
Yet, Eric is accused of not telling pressures, rates, etc. Hey, it is
his damned kit. If you make a better one---let me know. Better yet, let
me drive the car and be the judge of better or worse. Cost? How much
for the coil-over system that I have read about? Secrets? Anyone read
the turbo mod posts lately?
My point is this: If you make mods for these Audi's, and they
work, I will be your best customer. But, all I hear is talk. If the RS2
does not have the lag problem I say it has, why hasn't anyone of the
customers on this list posted telling me I am wrong? I will admit I made
a mistake. I don't think I have though--cause I have driven a car with
the RS2. If you have a computer mod that is better than Ned's, tell us
about it. But I have heard of melted pistons--and they were not in a Ned
boxed car. If you have an answer for the Audi suspension problems, hey,
have someone post that is happy with the kit. Put Eric out of the
suspension business with quality that works, at a better price, but stop
being a sniper that does not have any answers, just faults with the
questions. Frankly, I drove a Volvo wagon [converse conversion] with a
well-known Volvo tuner suspension on it--that cost about 50% more than
Eric's kit costs and I wouldn't put it on my car if it was free. Better
suspension? Tell us about it. I haven't seen it yet.
Guys, we are driving people off this list with bickering. What
do you say we all move to make the cars we drive better, instead of
trying to make some competitor look worse? And, if you want to make a
competitor look worse--do it with facts, not personal feuds.
Bruce---Ned's box, STEADIRICs suspension, Cool Carbons, dead
kitty in the garage, more stuff coming--in the "89.5" 200tqw and loving
every darn minute of driving.
