lifter and clutch questions

Well, this is the classic caution - don't forget to wait 30 minutes from 
starting to bolt the cam bearings back down until you turn the engine.
 
And, as others have commented, anyone who can get the beast ready to start 
within 30 minutes from that point is a _DAMN_ good wrench!
