BMW vs Audi handling (was: Why?)

Actually in all recent comparos I've read the BMW has been described as
the most sports-like handling because of its RWD configuration. I have no
dispute with this. However when it comes to roadholding and cornering speeds
especially in the wet, quattro is all over BMW, which loses it in RWD
oversteer. With quattro safety is greater at same speed - the only problem
is that quattro enthusiasts may be tempted to explore the (much) higher wet
weather grip and get into more trouble than they can handle. At least
RWD communicates loss of adhesion at a lower speed and tends to be easier
to correct and FEELS more fun - so we must be clear on what basis we
are comparing Audi quattro vs BMW handling.

In the dry I think there's very little to choose between them other than
the *feel* of the handling which I am prepared to agree that the Beemer
*may* be more fun. The Audi is just soooo competent it feels a little aseptic.
