When I had a CV joint fail, I was surprised to learn (from someone on 
the list) that it was actually cheaper and **MUCH** easier to replace 
the entire half shaft.  I paid <$115.00 for the entire shaft.  It 
came fully assembled and ready to install in the car.  Did the 
installation myself, without any major problems.  Hardest thing was 
locating the triple square socket to remove the inner CV joint (new 
inner already on the shaft).
