crankcase overfilling

And then Phil wrote
You get "piston slap" - when a piston heading downwards hits the surface of
the 
oil in the sump.  

And I say..
The crankshaft will be hitting the oil way before the piston, and will whip
it into a huge froth like an egg beater in a pint of bitter! Resulting foam
will go everywhere it's not suppose to i.e. cylinder walls in great quantity.
