... it was just a silly thing ... you don't want to tempt the Audi gods by
mentioning other marques do you? ... :)

... perhaps they do it on purpose so that the person who actually pays for
the car won't get an engine that was thrashed by someone who didn't care ...
Actually, I've never heard of a car that was programmed to protect itself
during break-in. It sounds like a good idea at first glance, but I'd hate
to think that the engine would be trying to protect itself if we were in
some sort of danger! I'd be interested to know the name of the dealership
and the salesman ... I suppose he could have let you drive a new demonstrator.
