Re: quattro-digest V4 #573
I OWN A 1985 AUDI 5000S WAGON WITH A REMANUFACTURED HEAD PURCHASED FROM
LOCAL AUDI DEALER FOR A TAD OVER $500.00 SHOP PRICE. I ADVANCED THE
TIMING AND ENRICHED THE FUEL ADJUSTMENT AT THE FUEL DISTRIBUTOR. WHILE
THIS CAR ALWAYS DID PULL STRONG ABOVE 3000RPM, IT IS NOW TOO GOOD TO
BE TRUE. SINCE THE AUDIS VALVES TAP ESPECIALLY ON START UP -- MORE
PRONUNCED AFTER ADVANCNIG TIMING -- I FEAR THAT THE EXCESS POWER MAY AT
THE EXPENSE OF AUDIBLE OR INAUDIDLE DETONATION. ANY WORDS OF WISDOM ON
MANY DEGREES THE TIMING CAN BE ADVANCED? IS THERE ANY MONITOR THAT CAN
BEINSTALLED TO OBSERVE FOR DENTONATION WHILE UNDER LOAD? I HAVE
RETARDED THE TIMING FOR NOW TO AVOID ENGINE DAMAGE AND WOULD APPRECIATE
ANY WORDS OF WISDOM. ALSO WOULD APPRECIATE HEARING FROM ANY AUDI
ENTHUSIASTS IN THE PITTSBURGH AREA. MY WIFE, TWO DAUGHTERS AND GRANDMA
ALL DRIVE USED AUDIS. THE ENTIRE COLLECTION WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY ON EASTER DAY
