Re: Borbets and Bentleys: My impressions

Nope. The "approved" proper upgrade, from my OEM 195/65/15, is the 215/60
not 215/50. This is what is listed on the inside of the fuel filler door as
an accepted size, as well as in all the *tire size upgrade books* that I've
seen. I can go with 205/60s, but the overall diameter would be significantly
"off" (thereby throwing off the speedo, etc.). The 215/60s provide a real
close match to overall diameter.

I also checked the web-page that is out there (sorry, don't have the URL
handy right now...) that gives tire-size comparison/upgrades from whatever
size you input (i.e. I put in 195/65/15 and got a couple of pages worth of
info), and it too showed that 215/60/15 is the correct tire to maintain the
same diameter.

It says the following for 60, 55, and 50 series:

- For 60 series tires, you will want a tire that is 211.250 mm wide.
- For 55 series tires, you will want a tire that is 230.455 mm wide.
- For 50 series tires, you will want a tire that is 253.500 mm wide.

Hope this helps to clear up any confusion.
