I agree with all Steve's answers, but I'd add that exhaust manifold ticks are
noticeable by being worse on a _rewarming_ engine - i.e., an engine that has
been up to operating temperature, has been left for an hour, and is then
restarted. The annoying thing about his #2 and #3 is that both can sometimes
"go away" for random periods.
