5k hydraulic blah blah
Hi folks. Tomorrow I will be installing a new pipe with an intact banjo
fitting to the hydraulic pump on the beloved 5k. Today I disconnected
all hoses from the pump and placed them in a bucket so they could drain.
I also must mention that an idiot who calls himself a mechanic told me
that ATF was a good substitute for pentosin 7.1 otherwise known as
G002 000. Of course this was the same mechanic who tightened the banjo
fittings to about a billion Nm (wonder why one broke?). Of course this
was two days after I bought the car... Let me further add that the nice,
bright previous owner used pentosin 11. You have likely inferred that I
have three different fluids in my hydro system. Goodbye, rack, pump, and
bomb. You have been good friends. The hydro parts don't leak (other than
the hose I just replaced) but I understand that they will soon. That
being said...
A few questions:
1. What is the capacity of the entire hydro system?
2. What is the best way to drain the whole thing of the old fluid? The
hoses in a bucket method seems shady.
3. I have 4 quarts of pentosin. I cannot afford more. This quantity
should allow some flushing, though (like $$ down the toilet...). How do
I flush most economically? Please spare the bathroom humor.
4. What is the best thing to do to the hoses-- to add a week or two to
their lives? Clean (with what?) and coat (with what?)?
5. What torque should I use for the hose fittings?
6a. Is synth better than dino?
6b. Will VW 2079 multiply torque?
6c. I want to kill my neighbor's cat. Ideas?
6d. Would you buy a F#rd Mustang?
6e. If my car gets up to 130 and the tires are the only things that
fail, will you worship my god?
6f. Can anyone tell me about BM# 4wd? Oh yeah? say it to my face...
6g. Is spamming this list OK?
I really need an answer to 1-5 SOON so, geniuses, please help.
