power mirrors, seat memory

Tomorrow I will be digging into the remaining two electrical problems of
the 5k: the power mirrors and the seat memory. The crack addict who
owned the car before me flat out cut the wires for the mirrors maybe a
foot below the harness. The switches are fine and the harnesses that
connect the wires to the switches is intact, so of course I wonder what
the problem might be. Have any of you had problems with the p/m motors
or clutches? I can't speculate why he would cut them otherwise... also,
if anyone remembers, the Bentley states that all of the p/m wires go to
a 7 point connector behind the instrument panel. Do the wires go through
the boot between the door and the body, then and connect behind the
panel?

And the power seat with memory-- where is the 12 point connector? For
some reason the Bentley doesn't specify. These wires must go through the
door boot too? Has anyone ever had the memory control unit fail.

I could really use some answers. Has anyone ever BTDT?
I especially would like to know failure rates for the mirror motors and
clutches and seat memory control units.

TIA
Ted Harlan

Oh, and while I'm at it, what is the best procedure for resoldering or
reaffixing the wire connectors onto wires and slipping them into the
plastic harnesses? And these wire connectors suck. Where can one go to
get other connectors for these harnesses and switches?
