many points/questions
A Few Things:
1. Saw this thing on ESPN this morning. It was about a recent auto show and
they spent 2-3 minutes (a long time considering how ESPN edits) talking about
one of the great collector cars of all time. It was an Auto Union vehicle that
looked like it was entirely chrome plated. Supposedly it was strictly a race
car (very long, very thin). Absolutely gorgeous-- looked kind of like a
silver-plated hot dog on BIG tires. The four rings on it were really phat, as
well. Had I not been so hung over, I would be able to recall more, but the
moral of the story is that ESPN plays things thousands of times, and those of
you with TV guides may or may not find it but try anyway as ESPN spoke loudly
of Audi's technical innovations and it seems to be good viewing. Dan Patrick

2. About the A6 change holder-- just a SWAG here but... I saw something
somewhere sometime earlier that mentioned that the number one way to avoid car
break-ins was to leave absolutely NO money (including change) visible in a car.
I would venture a guess that panhandlers, etc. see easy money and take it.
Maybe they did it to keep insurance rates down. An unusual hypothesis, but
feasible, nonetheless.
3. If anyone wants to tell me how the engine fan should work on an '86 5k no t
no q, I'd appreciate it. I don't even know the car has the update on it. What's
the easy way to tell? Should I be able to hear the engine fan at first speed
while I drive? Is it two-speed or three-speed? I replaced the resistor plate
(is it "series" or "Ceres") with a used one and I now have after-run blowing
but don't think everything is quite right. In fact, I really doubt it. Screw
the dealer, BTW. This is a serious inquiry. Help.
4. If anyone knows of a decent S. OH, E. IN or N. KY junkyard other than
Foreign Auto Salvage (man, I hate that place) in Ft. Wright, KY, let me know. I
also need the phone # or address of Beseler in N. KY.
5. Still no luck on the seat memory. I try to program new positions, and it
"clicks" but the seat regardless of programming returns to the same position
every time. Do I gotta yank the thing out? Ideas?
6. Time estimate on yanking the alternator on a 5k no t no q? And while we're
on this car-- a really amateur question, I know, but-- Where, exactly, is the
O2 sensor? Does a typical garage have the tools to measure CO2? Lastly, has
there been a consensus on the best provider for the heated version of the O2
sensor?
7. Recommendations for a good car carpet shampoo? Anyone ever try a steam
cleaner?
