Thanks RE: HALP! 86 Coupe Front end
Eric, mike, james, Kwattro, and Ed--thanks for the input on the Coupe's steeering
woes.
After driving the car with your suggestions in mind, I think there's a lot of work
still to be done on the suspension, in order:
1) Strut bearings & the assembly--I'm going to check for looseness or other anomalies,
and then replace anyway no matter what I find (so I'm conservative). And while I'm in
there, I guess a set of Boge Gas wouldn't hurt...right? (OK guys, this is the part
where you're supposed to say "Absolutely. Can't live another day without 'em.").
2) Rear bearings--alredy been adjusted, so definitely should to be replaced. You're
right, they're cheap and the job is prety simple, so why not?
3) Look into new tires. I am not particularly fond of the Yoko's (I don't like Ono
either--BTW, today is the 26th anniversary of the Beatles' breakup). There pretty
lousy in the rain, and noisy to boot, and the sidewall is a little noodly.
4) New rotors (not enough meat left on there to turn them).
Thanks y'all, I'll let you know what I find and how I fix!!!
