CGT clutch ???'s
Howdy,
Problem with my '86 Coupe GT, hydraulic clutch:
Maybe someone has experienced this. My clutch doesn't engage until
almost the very end of the pedal travel (at the top). When it does
engage, it is really "grabby" and doesn't apply smoothly. To start from
a stop smoothly requires very tight control of the movement within this
very small range. The clutch does not slip at all, none whatsoever.
Every once in a while, I hear a very short, slight moaning or groaning
upon engagement. No throwout bearing noise when the pedal is depressed,
no throwout bearing noise when the pedal is no depressed. Only this
occassional (it's always so much harder to spell simple words when
emailing, why is that?) noise AS the clutch is engaging.
My new mechanic says he doesn't think it's the clutch, more likely a
master cylinder or slave cylinder sticking or something. Anyone heard
of this? Which one is most likely the culprit?
NON-AUDI CONTENT: If you're really good, explain why my nrutaS is
having a problem with oil getting on the spark plugs and causing it to
die. Not the valve cover gasket, either. Me thinks it's either the
valve guides of the two offending cylinders or (HEAVEN FORBID) a cracked
head. Doubt the cracked head, though. Yeah, I know not Audi, but I
feel kinda screwed and need some advice. Outta warranty.
Regards,
Ken
