Re: Fuel Distributor '82 2.2i -update
Hi all,
An update... I have checked the clearance of the airflow plate, and it is
fine. It resting point is a little too low, but my attempt to adjust this
resulted in it being a little to high, which seems from the Haynes manual to
be worse. So I set it back. It is about 0.6 to 0.8 below the edge of the
cone, so not drastically out. I can pull the plate up fairly easily from
the nut, so I take it no problems there.
When I was referring to the cold start valve, I meant the warm-up regulator,
or control pressure regulator. This is the last original injection part
left on the car. I have replaced the Pump and Filter, the Injectors, and
the Airflow meter and fuel distributor. All that is left is the control
pressure regulator.
All the other parts that were changed, solved various problems, but it seems
that the lot needed changing.
Anyway, I have now changed the warm-up regulator, and it has made a helluva
difference. I now have power all through the rev range, on a hot engine. I
haven't yet tested it cold, that will come tommorow. Seems like everything
was full of dirt. First thing I changed was the filter, so hopefully no
more dirt will be introduced.
I was wondering how easy it is to flush the tank through. As I suspect this
is where all the dirt was coming from. Also, the fuel guage is somewhat
erratic, it either displays no fuel or rarely the correct reading. It never
shows the tank full, even if I fill it. Maybe this is clogged with dirt too?
Cheers,
Mike
