Actually, I've been meaning to bring this up....

I was doing some tranny research for a friend recently and had a US code
tranny apart('85-'87 4000q app). I counted out the ring and pinion, expecting
it to work out to a predictable 3.89...wrong! She counted out to 4.11!
Mystified, I rechecked my code to make sure I was still on the right trans,
yup, OK. For confirmation, I picked out another US code trans and went
through the process, also 4.11.

Hmmm, this forces me to rethink 4000q trans info...there is a dramatic
difference between '84's(6E trans) and the rest(US trans) as any multiple
4000q owner can attest to. I had thought this was due to 3.89 vs 4.11 finals,
but perhaps the difference is all gearing related? My next step is to pull
down a 6E trans and count it out, perhaps we'll stumble into something
interesting...Should get to that in two weeks time.
